“Making A Space Doc: The Roles of Research and Team Development in Storytelling” - From the Museum of Flight: Join filmmakers, Sarah and Vasant Salcedo, along with producer and Space Northwest co-founder Kelly Maloney, as they talk about how they are researching and building a coalition that will help them create a film that examines Washington's legacy and future role in space. This event is FREE and open to the public, and is supported by the Museum of Flight, Space Northwest, and 4Culture.

Neurodivergence and Art: A Conversation with 2022 Town Hall Seattle Writer-in-Residence Sarah Salcedo and Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True. “Join us for a conversation between former Town Hall Seattle Writer-in-Residence Sarah Salcedo and Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True. Together, they will discuss how they negotiate the intersections of neurodivergence, art, and artistic careers. After a discussion, there will be a reading of Arianne’s poems and a section from the in-progress novel that Sarah began during her Town Hall residency in 2022, which has also been funded by 4Culture.”

Sierra Nelson, Kamari Bright, Sarah Salcedo, Ching-In Chen, Corrine Manning, Ebo Barton, Roberto Ascolon, c.r. glasgow, Paul Hlava Ceballos, Juan Carlos Reyes, Ezra, and Anastacia-Reneé and Naa Akua will also be among those reciting/presenting/performing.

May 23, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. - Town Hall Seattle; Seattle, WA.

“Speculative in Seattle” From Town Hall Seattle: Join our Spring 2022 Writer-in-Residence Sarah Salcedo for her second event, Speculative in Seattle, featuring local science fiction and fantasy authors Nisi Shawl, Seanan McGuire, and Shiv Ramdas. Seattle is not only a UNESCO City of Literature, it is one of the only UNESCO Cities of Lit in the world that’s also a major hub of science fiction and fantasy (SFF). This event will feature a reading followed by a talk about how the Pacific Northwest is a hub for speculative lit from amazing SFF authors past and present, as well as programs like Clarion West, Norwescon, GeekGirlCon, PAX, and Emerald City Comic Con. The authors will also discuss how the region fuels our imaginations, from the nature around us to the space tech being created in the region, and dive into what makes us so weird and wonderful.”
